Barolo Sperss 2018 - Gaja

The 2018 Gaja Barolo Sperss is a Piedmontese red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo from the Sperss cru in Serralunga d'Alba, acquired by Gaja in 1988. The name "Sperss" means "nostalgia" in Piedmontese dialect. It has a deep garnet red color and complex aromas of rose petals, wild cherry, black pepper, star anise, leather, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is powerful, elegant, and persistent, with fine tannins. It pairs well with red meats, roasts, and aged cheeses. It has excellent aging potential, praised by international critics with scores up to 98+.
